Paris 2024 Paralympics | Para Equestrian: Versailles Says Goodbye to the Games with a Musical Farewell
As the final day of Para equestrian events wraps up, the Château de Versailles bids a fond farewell to its Olympic and Paralympic journey.
It has been nearly a month and a half since the first Olympic event took place at the Château de Versailles on July 27. Today, September 7, the Para equestrian freestyle events, featuring musical routines, bring an elegant close to an extraordinary summer at Versailles.
The competition venue at the Château de Versailles is truly unique. Set amid lush gardens and away from the bustling city, riders and their horses performed in this tranquil setting. While the Paris 2024 Games were marked by enthusiastic crowds, the atmosphere at Versailles was more subdued. Supporters adapted by waving their hands instead of clapping, creating a hushed ambiance. In between events, they expressed their excitement with cheers, dances, and applause.
Music played a central role in today’s events. From classical and contemporary pieces to original compositions, a diverse array of musical styles filled the air. Riders added their personal flair, such as Sweden’s Louise Etzner Jakobsson, who danced to ABBA, and France’s Alexia Pittier, who chose Charles Aznavour’s "For me formidable."
